Friday TAIZE SERVICE on
September 5th
The First Friday of every month -
from September to May (not during the summer months) – Northshore UCC offers a very
different way to ease out of the busy week into an intentionally
spirit-filled place. Taize is a brief service first started by a
Catholic priest to give any person—of any denomination -- a
place to heal, pray for peace, reflect.
It’s a simple, quiet experience
of peaceful candlelight, simple chants, one reading, and silent
reflection. Since its inception, the Taize style of meditation,
singing, and prayer has spread to many countries around the
world. Each year, thousands of young people travel to the Taize
community in France for week-long retreats of prayer and
meditation. Seattle’s St. James’ Cathedral has long offered
weekly Taize services that draw hundreds of worshipers from many
religious traditions.
Bring a friend, and come. Friday
evening, June 6th, from 7 pm to about 7:45 pm.
