Northshore United Church of Christ

A Progressive, Open and Affirming, Justice Seeking Community of Faith

No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here.

Whole Earth Ministries

Whole Earth Ministries believes in Creation stewardship and discipline of consumption to ensure a sustainable planet.  Our goal is to educate and encourage this congregation, both in its institutional life and its community outreach efforts, towards meaningful action with regard to environment stewardship and creation care.  We will apply what we learn to create positive change at NUCC, and outreach to the Ecumenical Cluster of churches and the wider community, to inspire and promote stewardship of creation.

With the success of our new recycling program, NUCC took another step toward being a GREEN congregation and began a composting program in October 2008.  NUCC partnered with Cedar Grove Composting in Everett (http://www.cedar-grove.com/default.asp) to launch this exciting project which will significantly decrease our waste production at NUCC.  There are new silver bins scraps and paper products.  Are you wondering about the cost of such an endeavor?  The cost of subtracting a gathroughout the church designated as either recycling or composting.  There are green composting carts in the kitchens for most food rbage tote and adding a composting tote to our weekly waste collection actually SAVES us some money each month.  It can pay to be GREEN!  Here is a complete list of the items that we are able to compost at NUCC:

The Green Team Task Force Vision & Mission Statement:

The Green Team Task Force vision is to present information and opportunity to live a sustainable lifestyle. Our mission shall be to build awareness of environmental issues, offer opportunities for creating a sustainable lifestyle for its members and individuals as a faith community, and plan and implement environmental stewardship programs. Our strategy will be to learn, apply what we have learned, update and make adjustments as needed, to create change in our church home; and outreach to the greater community in order to support and inspire that vision and mission. Our approach will be one of inclusiveness, cooperation and encouragement.

The GTTF will have regular meetings on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Linda H. is the chair of the task force, Andrea R. is the co-chair. Please direct questions about GTTF events or projects to Linda.

More Whole Earth Ministries projects are in the works!  We are committed to achieving and maintaining a healthy environment at NUCC, with a low environmental impact. Stay tuned!
