LGBTQ Ministries
The
LGBTQ ministry at NUCC has grown out of our desire as a congregation
to seek justice and dignity for all people. NUCC has been 'open
and affirming' since May, 2000 - which means that we have
publicly declared that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered and
questioning people are welcome in our full life and ministry (e.g.
membership, leadership, employment etc.) It bespeaks a spirit of
hospitality and a willingness to live out that welcome in meaningful
ways.
Our commitment to go beyond our open and affirming status is clear as we recently created the LGBTQ Ministry. We hope to fight policies which discriminate against gay people, fight misguided churches and denominations seeking to make gay people straight, and stand next to our brothers and sisters in the gay community as they demand equality and justice under the law.
